| WHAT PEOPLE SAY
SIX DATES for Catholic Couples was piloted in seven parishes in five states during Lent 2010. Following are comments from the Program Coordinators and the Participants.
PROGRAM COORDINATORS SAID:
-The message is very positive.
-This is a very easy program to run.
-The couples enjoyed the videos. They were a nice mix of seriousness and laughter.
-I found the DVD to be delightful.
-Participating couples are found laughing or shaking their heads in agreement with the
commentary in the videos.
-We personally like the clear, but non-preachy way that you have connected God's love story to
the couple love story.
-A number of couples have let me know how happy they are to have a Catholic program.
-The handouts and the suggested questions for each date have been very well received.
-The handouts were a great tool.
-The book is easy to read.
-The feedback has been very positive from participants.
-Thanks for making the program so user friendly!
PARTICIPANTS SAID:
At the end of the program participants completed an evaluation. They were asked:
1) How was this program helpful?
-I spent time alone with my spouse.
-We discussed topics we do not usually discuss.
-We were given questions that made us think.
-The handouts guided our conversation.
-We found out that other couples are like us.
-We gained insights from the couples in the videos.
-We were reminded of the purpose of Christian Marriage.
2) What will you take away from this program?
-A reminder of why we are married.
-Renewed appreciation for our marriage – how much we love and mean to each other.
-A reminder of the gifts we bring to our marriage.
-The model for our love is Christ.
-A better understanding of the Catholic Sacrament of Marriage.
-How important it is to have Christ as the focal point.
-The need to reconnect with each other frequently.
-The importance of communication.
-Knowledge that I need to be more open.
-To listen and be more open and honest with my spouse.
-The value and importance of making time for each other.
-It was so enjoyable to date each other again. We hardly ever go out, just the two of us.
-We will continue the practice of dating.
